's Trade Education Scholarship

The commercial construction industry has Educational Scholarship opportunities available for High School graduating seniors and rising seniors. The scholarship value is $1,375.00. Training is available in the following trades: commercial Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC. Classes are 144 hours in length and generally cover a 36 week period. Commercial & Industrial construction is defined as new construction that is non residential; shopping centers, office buildings, schools, hospitals, churches, warehouses, etc.

New Graduates: We know our ability to employ new graduates will be limited due to the economy. We want to offer the next best opportunity, training in a trade that will assist an individual seeking employment. Too many job seekers have little or no training in a trade prior to completing a job application. Employers are more interested in a candidate who has some training or exposure to the trade. Our scholarship program is designed to assist graduates seeking employment in construction.

Rising seniors: We also want to offer training to any rising senior who is willing to attend class one or two nights per week during their senior year. These students now have the opportunity to receive needed trade education that will place them at the top of the hiring list in May 2010.

Students will be sitting in the same classroom with employees of contractors who are participating in training. Students who have graduated, and are over 18 years of age will be placed in a JOB POOL of individuals seeking employment.

Deadline to apply for scholarships is June 12th 2009.
